Older News and Archives, kept here for posterity (and so you don't have to scroll down a million lines to find what you're looking for!).
May 10, 2010 The great, formative Fantasy artist, Mr. Frank Frazetta, has passed away. He was 82 years old. Frank was an inspiration to millions, and will be sorely missed. Additionally, the ARCC LJ has been updated with an essay on "Synchronicity In World Building," a (perhaps rambling) look at the ways in which many different people can come to the same place in their game world creations. March 4, 2008 E. Gary Gygax, viewed widely as the father of Roleplaying Games, has passed away. His son has released a statement, and it can be found in various places around the web and other gaming sources. ARG would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends, and say from the bottom of our hearts - he will be sorely missed.
August 2007 The ARCC LJ is going strong, and has become something of a primary source to get the latest brain-dumps from myself and others involved with the goings on of ARG, as well as certain members of the Mekton Zeta Mailing List. It looks as though the place is going to become our primary non-news communication center - anything that isn't directly news-worthy, but still worth discussion, will be going there. Want to get a bit of "Gaming Philosophy" going on? Head on over! June 2007 Sorry for the time out, lately, folks. A good many things have been going on in the world of the Atomic Rocketeers, including some major life changes for Jim, a new job for Matt, and a huge amount of extra work at that Heroic/Villainous game studio for Brian. We've updated the ARCC LJ community, and have been tracking down artists to get The Martian Eagles out to the public. We've also resolved some serious technical issues with the website, and are investigating a few new bits of technology to add to the site to help you with your gaming experiences. September, 2006 We've finally got Freedom! up and active on the Downloads section. Go get it! An adventure of rebellion and redemption awaits! Thanks to Chris Rubenstahl, Matt K. Smith and Stephanie Stahecki for their contributions! May, 2006 Sorry for the delay, folks. The Day Jobs have been getting the better of us. I am pleased to say that there is a new Preview of Era3: The Wild Frontier available on the Previews page. This is a nine page preview, with the new layout (cleaner, and far more readable in some areas), and some different pages than the previous. It's a bit of a jump-around, but it's got some pretty eye-catching stuff in there. We think you'll like it. All other projects proceed apace. Slowly, but apace.
December, 2005 Uploaded the Mekton Zeta Psionic Character Sheet to the Downloads section. We realize this has been a long time coming, but it was very difficult to track down the original files. Please thank the nice folks at R. Talsorian Games for allowing us to continue to post Character Sheets for their awesome Mekton Zeta game (Link leads to RTG's Safeshopper product list for Mekton). October, 2005 The Atomic Rocket Communications Core, a Livejournal Community, is now open for business. The rules are fairly simple, and we think they're rather easy to follow. Please join in and take part in asking questions, opening lively discussions, and above all – Having fun!
September, 2005 Updated the Downloads page with the preview for Era3: The Wild Frontier, and changed the Downloads Section's title to a more fitting name, rather than one focusing solely on the Mekton Mini Campaigns. We love the MMC's, but they're not the sole focus of the page. Also cleaned up a bit of text here and there, and madesure things were lining up right. Still no word on the weirdness of the Products menu in non-IE browsers. August, 2005 Updated the Grey Line page with a new nine page preview of Era3: The Wild Frontier. Art is still out for The Martian Eagles and Freedom!, but we're closing in on that, now that we've settled some scanner difficulties with our artist. Anara RPG is on hold for now, as is The Lazarus Protocol, due to rules and background issues that need to be resolved to prevent "Flavor Of The Month" issues. Progress is slow going on The Guide To West City, due to similar issues, but thankfully, you can tread over familiar ground with Superheroes and no one gets too uppity, unlike Fantasy and Modern-era games. Funny how that works. May, 2005 Welcome to the new and improved Atomic Rocket site. To make a long story short, we're gearing up for all kinds of new things, and the first thing to get the kick is the website. We're still hanging on to Chris Conkle's original design, but with a bit of flash and shine added to it. Chris did such a good job on it, we decided to keep it. Pretty nice, we think.
First thing you might notice is that we have a series of new product lines listed under the associated menu. These are pretty self explanatory (each page tells you what it's about), but here's a quick run-down:
The Blue Line takes place on, or is focused on, The Earth. The Gold Line calls upon the power of Heroes in a world touched by greatness, giving you powers and abilities undreamed of. The Green Line steps outside the bounds of the normal for the fantastic, taking you to Worlds Beyond Measure. The Grey Line takes you out into space and beyond, to a place we like to call The Wild Frontier. The Red Line draws power and fury from the ancient God of War... The Angry Red Planet, Mars. The White Line focuses on the modern world, just a few seconds to the left of now, where you might find what lives within the lurking shadows. |
