Notes: The Target Analyzer represents a comprehensive database of technical information in
       civilian models. Such a database would not have any military information available.
       Users of civilian models typically subscribe to an update service to keep their
       information current.

       The Remote Control system has a 30m fiber optic lead which can be plugged into a
       variety of devices to let the tech control them while he is doing something else.
       The most common is a repair waldo, although cranes and other heavy machinery are
       also used when needed.

       The repair waldo has hands and micromanipulators and may be instructed to perform a
       number of activities to assist the operator. The repair waldo is shown with a paint
       cartridge in the sprayer. It is often used to reapply camouflage and other markings
       after repairs are finished.

       Other readily available cartidges are: paint (paintball, 0.081 CP, 2.4 Yen), foam
       (10m radius, 0.486 CP, 14.4 Yen), and epoxy sealant (tangle [vs. (damage roll
       /2.5)*3], 0.486 CP, 14.4 Yen). Sometimes units are loaded with acid (incendiary,
       0.648 CP, 19.2 Yen), although these cartridges are harder to find, and using them
       will void the sprayer's warrantee.

Notes: The Cargo Lifter suffers -2 to Awareness rolls due to the location of its sensors.

       The Cargo Lifter uses standard Power Cells, but its oversized actuators put a heavy
       drain on them, reducing power available for motive systems.

       This type of unit is a common sight on spacecraft and around spaceports. It is
       manufactured by many companies, and intense competition has created an emphasis on
       inexpensive design. Its treads help it maneuver through crowded and cluttered
       docking facilities. The design suffers somewhat from its emphasis on economy. It is
       squat, slow and a little clumsy, but it is extremely strong. The Lifter can pick up
       2.5 metric tons, and has a light winch for cargo handling. Its manipulators are too
       bulky to use most 1/10 scale gear.

Notes: The Vigilant Police Armor was designed to be used in urban areas. Its armor is
       capable of stopping hits from pistols or SMGs. The Vigilant can out-accelerate many
       production model sports cars for almost a full minute using its internal booster
       system. Alternatively, it can use the boosters to make jumps of up to 300 meters.
       Even fully loaded it weighs less than 3 metric tons, and is small enough to engage
       in pursuit through alleys and most buildings.

       The JW-2 pistol is the standard side-arm, although some officers upgrade to the more
       expensive JW-2 Special (4.45 CP). A pilot can integrate a matched pair of JW-2
       Specials with his targeting software, firing both simultaneously (each includes half
       the cost of an interservo link).

       A police officer in Vigilant Police Armor is also issued the full compliment of
       regular police equipment, including a sidearm to be stored in the Storage
       Compartment when not in use.

Variants:

Crowd Control  (20.23 CP, 2.865 t):
       Crowd Control officers are also issued a Riot Shield with a Stun Baton (see below).
       In situations where conflict is expected, some Crowd Control Officers may be issued
       Riot Foamers or Scatterguns. Riot Foamers spray a stream of quickly hardening foam
       to immobilize rioters. When used on full auto, a Scattergun's gel rounds pack enough
       kinetic impact to drop a suit of powered armor while an unarmored civilian can take
       a stray round with only a small chance of a fatality.

SWAT Team (29.223 CP,  2.731 t /3.281 t):
       Vigilants are prepared for SWAT Teams through the addition of the Command Armor
       shown above. SWAT armor can turn assault rifle rounds, while the torso can stop a
       round from a machine gun. SWAT armor incorporates a taser and a retractable blade
       for hand-to-hand combat. SWAT officers are routinely issued additional heavy weapons
       for the high-threat situations they face (see below for examples). Cost and weight
       shown above include the  addition of an RL-4 SMG.

Marksman (SWAT variant) (32.88 CP, 2.78 t/ 3.334 t):
       Some Metro areas have purchased Marksman variant SWAT units which incorporate vastly
       improved electronics. These units are always armed with a Mk 7 Sniper Rifle to take
       advantage of their upgrades.
       Upgrade Sensors to Medium Striker (Range 7km, Comm. 100km), add +1 Targeting
       Computer, add Advanced Sensor Package to SWAT Armor Torso, add Resolution

Notes: This unit is designed for fire and rescue operations. It had to meet the following
       design criteria; it had to be small enough to operate in urban areas, and in
       structures not designed to accomodate mecha; it had to be as light as possible, as
       it might be operating in damaged structures, it must be able to operate in hazardous
       environments, it must be adaptable to different roles, and it must be economical.

       The version shown here is equipped for fire fighting. A rescue pod is also
       available. The rescue pod uses all of the space available to hold a passenger for
       transport to a waiting ambulance or medivac helicopter. Many such vehicles are
       designed to take the pod without removing the passenger, allowing faster transport
       and less movement of the patient. Such a pod reduces the cost and weight of the unit
       (-.35t -3.273CP). A variety of other tools are available as well.

Notes: IMK-15 War Stalker: Even as the IMK-08 Death Stalker was being frantically
designed and tested, its successor had already been planned and was undergoing
development, as it seemed likely that given the IMK-08s fast construction that
flaws would appear under combat conditions. The design was only finally completed
after a few months delay to accomdate lessons learned from Death Stalker battle
experience, and many components were shared with the earilier design.
        Instead of the "inefficent" Death Stalker design using two seperate
handheld weapons, the IMK-15 used a single main weapon incorporating elements
from the IMK-08s Machine Rifle and Bazooka; a quick firing, heavy Battle Rifle.
The lastest EMW was included, to give meele parity against the Elarian Vantage,
and two Rocket Pods were added after tests revealed a need for more close in
firepower. A standard defence laser was fitted in the head. More armour was
fitted, a backup sensor system was installed, and more powerful flight units
added.
        The IMK-15 entered service six months after the IMK-08, and was fully
expected to become the major component of the Kargan forces. 
        It didn't work that way. The IMK-08 had already established itself a
lengendary reputation, and was appearing in ever more numerous variants, rapidly
becoming the Kargan workhorse. The IMK-15s Battle Rifle was found to be a typical
compromise, lacking the power of the IMK-08s Bazooka, and unable to match the
fire rate of the Death Stalkers Machine Rifle, despite having the advantage of
more powerful ammo in its "short" spare clips. Pilots disliked the Beam EMW,
preferring the Rastas sword - at least that didn't run out of power in the middle
of a fight. A back up combat knife became a standard issue refit. Pilots also
complained that the unit didn't "feel" right - the loudest being the Death
Stalker pilots, who felt they alreday had a fine Mek. 
        The IMK-15 ended up being overshadowed by its supposed predecessor, and
total production of around 700 was about a third that of the IMK-08. Production
was also terminated more quickly than the IMK-08, and variants were few, most
being individual variations used by officers. The only variant of real note was
the IMK-16S Marine Stalker, modified for Underwater use. The IMK-15 rapidly faded
from Kargan service, and only a few are still active, mainly as testbeds. A few
demilitarized versions have been spotted carrying out construction work, an
unglamrous end for a mecha unable to compete with its older brother.

Notes: IMK-08 Death Stalker: Possibly the most infamous unit ever to be deployed
by any Algolian nation, the Death Stalker was designed with frantic haste about
a year into the Archipelago War. After initial stunning successes, the Kargans
had suffered a series of shocking setbacks and were being pressed back by the
Elarans. Kargan MekTon pilots were being outclassed by the latest Elaran units.
        The IMK-08 went from drawing pad to production in just six months, and
underwent a records *one* days safety testing. Marching straight onto the
battlefields, it began winning battles as soon as it appeared, its machine
rifle, bazooka, and most feared of all, the deadly Rastas short sword,
demolishing everything thrown against it. The Elaran advance was halted largely
by the ever growing numbers of IMK-08s, and the Archipelago War became a
grinding stalemate for the next four years.
        Not surprisingly for such a hastlily built machine, the IMK-08 suffered
from a few flaws. Armour was fairly light, so the type was often forced to rely
on its shield, made of a denser alloy than standard plating. There was no backup
for the sensor system, it was always somewhat clumsy in flight, and the basic
frame was somewhat larger than strictly neccesary.
        This last flaw became the types greatest strength. By removing the basic
armament, there was plenty of room for different equipment and weapons fits. the
wings were found to be ideal for hanging additional missiles or bombs on. Dozens
of variants were built, from the popular Duo Gun to the rare Blitz Stalker, and
the type stayed in production until 1522. Over 2000 were produced, and the IMK-
08 even outlasted its supposed replacement, the IMK-15 War Stalker, which had a
production total only a third that of the Death Stalker, and stopped being
manufactured first!

Notes: IMK-16M Marine Stalker: The only major variant of the IMK-15 War Stalker,
the IMK-16M was designed to launch surprise raids on Elaran installations.
Launched from specially converted Fan Carriers, or even heavilly modified
submarines, IMK-16Ms were initially very successful, until the Elarans began
deploying their own marine converted MekTons to counter this new threat.
        Although the basic frame was that of an IMK-15, the type required a
number of major changes to its propulsion and sensor sysyems, as well as
waterproofing, to make it viable. The weapons payload was completely changed;
consisting of a carbine firing rocket boosted shells, loaded from a revolver type
cylinder; two heavy torpedos; two close range rocket packs, a cutting laser, and
a spear to provide marginal close combat capability. Finally, a large mine
enabled the the IMK-16M to demolish underwater obstacles.
        The main puzzle of the Marine Stalker is why it was based on the IMK-15,
and not the much more popular and versatile IMK-08 Death Stalker. The main theory
is that the heavier armour of the IMK-15 was more suited to the harsher sea
environment. About a hundred of this type were manufactured; only a handful
remain in service, mainly for utility work on the Kargan sea farms, the type
having been replaced by much more modern units.
