Regenerating Reactive Shields
As you know, many of our favorite and not so favorite Sci-Fi movies and shows have shields that do not fall under Standard, Reactive nor Ablative Reactive. Instead they act like ablative shields but have the ability to recover its strength over time. These are Regenerating Reactive shields.
Regenerating reactive shields have an ablative SP of 3 times that of the regular sp for the shield's class at the same cost. The shield may use any of the reactive shield weakneses except for ablative. The shield does not have to worry about Reset time because the shields are no longer subject to overloads. But they are still subject to being destroyed when a servo they are housed in is breached by an attack that exceeds the armor.
A new multiplier is part of the RRS system: Recharge Rate. Recharge rate is the fraction of shield class multiplier it can regenerate per turn. The regeneration takes place at the end of the turn after all damage has been dealt.
Rech.Rate: 0 1/3 1/2 x1 x2 Multiplier: x0.5 x0.75 x1.0 x1.5 x2.0 A zero Recharge Rate means the shields do not automatically recharge points per turn. But it can be recharged directly from a linked energy pool's stored energy on a 1 for 1 basis. Round the Points per turn to the nearest number
Example: Recharging Reactive Shield
Shield class bought: Medium Striker(8sp) cost:24
Max Stopping poer for this calss= (MS 8 x3)= 24 ablative SP
Recharge rate 1/3. Recharges (MS 8 x1/3)=2.66 or 3 points per turn
Total cost; MS 24cp x (recarge rate 1.3) .75= 18cp and spaces.
