Robotech/Macross II
Characters
to Mekton Z Format
[Character Recycling]
Note: This document assumes you have played in the Palladium Books gameworld and wish to convert to Mekton Z. Therefore you are aware of the concepts behind the Palldium Game System.
Brief Commentry: Due to the fact Palladium will only allow convertions from their system that they do not own; but are just licenced to publish in thier system, I will not go into details not covered out of a Macross II or Robotech setting. This means if those two series of books doesn't cover ideas set in other books in the Palladium Megaverse -- You proably won't find it here!
Finally, this is only a guide this author personally uses, and therefore does not need reflect your own. If you wish to use some rules or modify them, all I ask is the curtosy to place my name as a resource in creating your own set of rules.
Mekton Z Standards used here:
50 Hits (H) = 1 Kill (K)
1 Hex = 50 meters (m)
Character Conversion Notes:
Palladium Abbreviations:
IQ = Intelligence Quotient
ME = Mental Endurance
MA = Mental Affinity
PS = Physical Strength
PE = Physical Endurance
PP = Physical Prowess
PB = Physical Beauty
Spd = Speed
Step 1) Convert the Character’s Attributes:
(Mekton Stats = Palladium Stats)
Intelligence = (IQ/30) x10
Cool = (ME/30) x10
Reflexes = (PP/30) x10
Attractiveness = (PB/30) x10
Empathy = (MA/30) x10
Tech Ability = {[(MA x0.25) + (IQ x0.75)]/30} x10
Luck = ((IQ * 0.18) + (ME * 0.12) + (PP * 25) +
(Spd * 0.3) + (PE * 0.15)) / 77.2
Move Allowance = (Spd x2)/6
Body Type = {[(PS x0.45) + (PE x0.55)]/30} x10
Step 2) Level of Experience, Hit Points & S.D.C.
These Palladium Mechanics are dropped in the conversion to Mekton, as they are unneeded for the Mekton Z system.
Step 3) (Optional) I.S.P., Chi, P.P.E.
Psychic Characters:
Palladium has three classes of Psionists, Minor, Major, and Master. A minor has 1-3 Psi stat, a Major has 4-6 Psi Stat, and a Master has 7+ Psi Stat. Beyond this set of ranges, it is between you and your referee to determine the exact figure. As to the psychic powers, they’re to be considered as psionic skills with Minor class psionics being a range of 1-5, and Major class psionics being a range of 6-10.Magic Character:
Palladium has three classes of Mystics, Minor, Major, and Master. For Mekton there is no Magic covered, but Magic is akin to Psionics in most games; they just use different energies. Therefore magic should run just like magic; just use another name for the stat. (For this conversion, well call magic power as Magi.)
A minor has 1-3 Magi stat, a Major has 4-6 Magi Stat, and a Master. has 7+ Magi Stat. Beyond this set of ranges, it is between you and your referee to determine the exact figure. As to the magic spells, they’re to be considered to be as magic skills with the level of the spell equaling to the rank. Anything of level 11 on is considered to be a magic skill 10.Chi Users:
Palladium in some cases has users of positive and negative Chi. For Mekton there is no Chi covered, but like Magic, Chi is akin to Psionics; they just use different energies. Therefore chi should run just like magic; just use another name for the stat. (For this conversion, well call chi power as Chi.)
A minor user of chi has 1-3 Chi stat, a major chi user has 4-6 Chi Stat, and a master. has 7+ chi Stat. Beyond this set of ranges, it is between you and your referee to determine the exact figure, but keep note if the Chi being used is negative of positive, as they are two extreme facets of the same power. As to the Chi spells and abilities, they’re to be considered to be as chi skills. Chi spells will have the level of the spell equaling to the rank. Anything of level 11 on is considered to be a magic skill 10. Where Chi abilities will come in three forms, Major, Minor, or Master power types and thus can be determined like the Chi Stat.
Step 4) Convert the Character’s Skills:
Conversion of Palladium skills to Mekton skills is:
Skill Rank = Percetile/10; round to nearest number.
Example: Cook 98% = Cooking [Empathy] +10Palladium Skill List to Equivalent Mekton Skills
Step 5) Determine Templates of the Character:
Although the character already has such templates as race, profession, and character type already determine it may be required to know what these templates are.
Note: Templates used here have 10 points as standard rather than the 5 points used in Mekton Zeta.
Read further down for the various Template Types.
Step 6) Any other stats, powers, etc. must be discussed with your Referee.
Step 7) Add all other data such as descriptions, personality, and background.
Step 8) Your done!!
