Non-Numeric Statistics

I've been toying with redoing the way Skills and Stats are handled in Interlock; I've become spoiled by the way other game systems have moved toward simpler and less detailed character sheets in the act of moving toward more `all around' competent characters (who are assumed to have an `Average' ability in skills not listed on their sheets directly) with between 5 and 8 Descriptors instead of Stats and Skills.

Instead of having a Stat from 1 - 10 and a Skill from 1 - 10 that get added, characters get Descriptors from 1 - 20, rated in the following way:

	Poor ( 2)
	Average ( 6)
	Good (10)
	Great (14)
	Excellent (18)

A starting character might be allowed one Great Ability, four Good Abilities and one Poor Ability, where Abilities are things like Mecha Combat, Melee, Social Charm, etc. This means that you can get a single character described as a simple series of sentences:

My name is Talin Chander, and I am a mecha pilot for Her Majesty's Royal Air Force. As might be expected, my Piloting is Great, and some of the exploits I have enjoyed are tales to tell in themselves. I am Good with my Mecha unit's Combat systems, but not the best in the division, I'm handy with a quip at a party (Good Social) and I've always been keen for a fight and unwilling to turn from a challenge (Good Courage). Unfortuately, HM Psicorps has tested me as nearly entirely Psiblind (Poor Psi), limiting my advancement into the truly highest ranks of the corps.
