Gatling Guns


It may sounds kinda munchkin-esque, but it works...

Gatling Guns. Super-high rates of fire, close spread of shots, multiple barrels. Hmmmm. Well, you could simulate this with a high ROF (6-8) on your Beam of Projectile weapon, but it's not too satisfying... Well, how about this! -- instead, you build a bunch of Autofire weapons, Mate them, and then Link or Cross-Link them as you like. Ooooh, that's gotta hurt...

Example:

A 3-Kill, WA+0, normal-range (5 hexes) Projectile Weapon with an ROF of 5... it'll cost 9CP, take 9 Spaces, have 3 kills, weigh 1.5 tons, and it's ammo costs 0.9CP per 5-shot burst. With BV5, each point you beat the target by scores 1 randomly-rolled hit, up to 5 hits. OK, but...

What if you then Mate SIX of these buggers together?... it'll cost 54CP, take 40.6 Spaces, have 3 kills, weigh 9 tons, and it's ammo costs 5.4CP per 30-shot burst. Yes it's expensive, yes it's fragile, yes it's heavy, and yes it's an ammo hog, but with six BV5 guns...

If they're Linked (+5CP, total 59CP), each point you beat the target by scores SIX randomly-rolled hits, up to 30 hits total, EACH RADNOMLY ROLLED. Eeek.

Worse yet, if they're Cross-Linked (+10CP, total 64CP), each point you beat the target by scores SIX HITS TO THE SAME LOCATION, up to 5 five different locations! Aaaaaaagh!!! That means that this Cross-Linked version will strip 6SP off any Alpha or Beta armor it hits, PER point over the target's defense roll!

Yeeesh, huh?

I know it's gross, but I really like it. It does a good job of reality too. Heh... good for building the Gundam HeavyArms Kai from "Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz", which has twin 6-barrel vulcan guns held in each hand in each (that's a total of 12 barrels per hand, or 24 barrels) and four 8-barrel beam vulcans in its chest. Yes, 4x8. In other words, this thing can pump out at least 112 shots (56 barrels, at least BV2 each) per Action... and that's not even including its 94 missiles, 2 head-vulcans and 2 shoulder machinecannons! Hee hee hee....
